What is dermaplaning?
During dermaplaning, a sterile surgical blade is held at a precise angle and moved gently across prepared skin. This lifts away superficial dead skin cells and fine vellus hair.
The treatment may leave the skin feeling smoother and can help makeup sit more evenly. Results are temporary and vary between clients.
A common question
Will hair grow back thicker?
No. Dermaplaning does not change the structure of the hair follicle, so removed vellus hair does not become thicker or darker because it has been treated. It grows back according to its natural cycle.
Coarser terminal hair is different from fine vellus hair; Katie will assess the area and explain what the treatment can and cannot address.
Suitability
When treatment may wait
Dermaplaning may not be suitable over active acne, cold sores, broken skin, infection, significant irritation or some skin conditions. Tell Katie about your medicines, allergies, skincare and recent procedures.
Aftercare
Keeping skin comfortable
Temporary redness, tightness or sensitivity can occur. Use gentle products, avoid rubbing and active exfoliants until advised, and protect your skin from sun exposure.
